Psalm 119:10 | “With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments.”

The psalmist declares a wholehearted pursuit of God. To seek the Lord is to look for him and his will in every part of life, ordering each thought, desire, and decision around what pleases him. This is not a half-hearted search, but one marked by sincere diligence. Psalm 119:2 reminded us that blessing belongs to the one who seeks God with a whole heart and walks in obedience to his word. Yet even as he commits to seek the Lord, the psalmist prays, “Let me not wander.” He knows how easily our hearts drift when we grow distracted or self-reliant. True obedience begins with determined resolve and humble dependence. When we turn from listening to God’s instruction, we lose our way. Matthew Henry notes, “The best are sensible of their aptness to wander; and the more we have found of the pleasure there is in keeping God’s commandments the more afraid we shall be of wandering from them and the more earnest we shall be in prayer to God for his grace to prevent our wanderings.” Like the psalmist, you also must seek God with your whole heart. Open his word and ask him to conform your thoughts and desires to what is true. Pray, “Lord, help me to seek you in every area of my life, and guard my steps so I do not wander from your word.”
