Psalm 119:30 | “I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your rules before me.”
The psalmist makes a deliberate choice to walk in “the way of faithfulness.” This phrase speaks of a life marked by steadfast obedience to God’s revealed will. His commitment is made clear in the next line: “I set your rules before me.” He keeps God’s word in constant view, allowing it to determine every step that he takes. Spurgeon wisely notes, “Men do not drop into the right way by chance; they must choose it, and continue to choose it, or they will soon wander from it. Those whom God has chosen in due time choose his way.” May we also choose the way of faithfulness each day by keeping God’s word ever before us. And may we remember that faithfulness is often forged in daily decisions that only God sees. Before you open your calendar, respond to a message, or step into a difficult conversation, place his word before you. Ask yourself, what would faithfulness look like here? Then choose it. The way of faithfulness is walked one obedient step at a time.
