Psalm 119:128 | “Therefore I consider all your precepts to be right; I hate every false way.”

The psalmist reaches a settled conclusion. God is God. Because he is perfectly wise and righteous, everything he commands is right. To delight in the Lord is to joyfully surrender to what he reveals as best. Submission to God’s word is not begrudging or partial. It is wholehearted and willing. Surrender changes how we live. When the psalmist says he hates every false way, he is not claiming sinless perfection. He is declaring loyalty. His heart has chosen sides. God’s way is right. Every competing path must be rejected. Stephen Yuille brings this truth into sharp focus: “Our joyful surrender to God will be evident in our personal relationships. If a husband is a raging tyrant in the home, then he isn’t joyfully surrendering to God. If a wife is a nitpicking irritant in the home, then she isn’t joyfully surrendering to God. If a woman is a gossiping nuisance in the church, then she isn’t joyfully surrendering to God. If a man is a raging bull in the church, then he isn’t joyfully surrendering to God.” What do you say about God’s authority? What do you actually do with it? Is your obedience marked by joy or resistance? To affirm that all God’s precepts are right is to let that conviction govern our thoughts, our attitude, and our conduct. Joyful surrender is not theoretical. It is visible.
