Psalm 119:79 | “Let those who fear you turn to me, that they may know your testimonies.”

Spurgeon captures the heart of this verse when he writes, “Those who are right with God are also anxious to be right with his children.” The psalmist prays that those who fear God would turn back to him. Perhaps he had failed. Or it may be that the righteous had been deceived by the slander of the wicked and had believed lies about him. Either way, his desire is clear. He wants God’s people to know truth. Jesus reminded us that his people have a distinct calling. We are to be salt and light. Matthew 5:16 tells us to live in such a way that others see our good works and give glory to our Father in heaven. Our lives always speak, especially when we claim that Jesus is everything to us. Do we live like it? Or do we say one thing and then meet hardship with the same fear and frustration the world shows? The psalmist was attacked by the wicked and misunderstood by the righteous, yet he kept trusting the Lord and holding fast to his word. May we live in such a way that we do not stumble or confuse others, but instead help them to see Christ in us.
