Psalm 119:90 | “Your faithfulness endures to all generations. You have established the earth, and it stands fast.”

God is faithful forever. He can be fully trusted to do everything he has promised. The psalmist looks at the stability of the earth and sees in it a picture of the faithfulness of God. The world does not rest on chance. It stands because God established it. He is not fleeting or fickle. His character does not shift with time or circumstance. And just as he established the earth, he establishes his people. Those who are in Christ rest on a foundation that will not move. Spurgeon writes, “If the earth abideth the spiritual creation will abide; if God’s word suffices to establish the world surely it is enough for the establishment of the individual believer.” Jude celebrates this same truth in Jude 24. “Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy.” Because he is faithful, we will be kept from falling away. Because he is faithful, we will one day be presented before him as blameless. May you rest and rejoice in the faithfulness of the Lord and trust him to keep you to the end.
