Psalm 119:95 | “The wicked lie in wait to destroy me, but I consider your testimonies.”
The psalmist is afflicted. His enemies stalk him, watching for the moment they can strike. They look for every chance to do him harm. They press in close, yet they cannot move him. Instead of fixating on the danger, he fixes his mind on the word. He clings to the God who speaks and saves. Here we see a beautiful contrast. Everything around him is chaotic. Everything within him is calm. His circumstances roar, but his heart rests. Why? Because he knows who holds his life. He knows that God is in complete control and can change everything at the very moment he sees fit. Paul lived with the same quiet strength. In Philippians 4:12 he writes, “I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.” Paul had learned the secret. His peace was not tied to what he faced but to the One who never leaves his side. What are you focused on today? Your struggles, or your Savior? The same God who steadied the psalmist will steady you. He has not lost track of your life for a single moment. He will never fail to keep those who keep their eyes on his word.
